Doc Titan - Mummy's Thumb

Doc Titan - Mummy's Thumb

Doc Titan July 1936

This was my first Doc Titan cover and it contains an inside joke. As teenagers, my older brother, Steve, and I used watch the midnight horror movies broadcast by a local television station. While watching, we would make fun of the poor acting, silly dialogue, and cheap costumes. One night, while watching the Mummy’s Tomb, we decided the sequel should be the Mummy’s Thumb, as the severed digit of the ancient pharaoh preys upon its helpless victims, stalking (like an inch worm) and strangling them. “Ahyeee! Run away! It’s the mummy’s thumb!!” Too funny. So this cover is dedicated to those old movies and to my brother, Steve. (“Hi, Steve!”}     - WAR
